Neuroplasticity through Sensorimotor & Somatic Integration
PulsePlay
Sync with the Pulse. Play while in Harmony

What is PulsePlay?
PulsePlay is not just another technique aimed at “fixing” or fad for performance training. There are plenty of these already! Rather, it’s a process that guides you through the creative process of synchronizing with your body's natural oscillatory movement processes and helps rebalance and reorganize your body and nervous system through the sensory and movements meant for you! Pulseplay does this by showing you how to access, interact, and leverage the naturally occuring bodily reflexes and oscillatory movement patterns availble to you to better maintain health and achieve greater bodily organizaiton and maturity.

PulsePlay is designed for children, adults, and professionals and offers a more integrated approach that blends foundational principles from movement science, polyvgal theory, neurodevelopmental growth and development, neuroplasticity, fascia science, trauma science, and more—all brought together in a play-based exploratory model that helps enhance nervous system function and autonomic balance.

How is PulsePlay Different Than Conventional Physical Therapy or Movement Training
PulsePlay is unique because it teaches you how to directly connect with your autonomic reflexes—we call this the "Pulse." The "Play" is what you do with it once you are connected. Pulseplay has many benefits that include reflex integration, fascial releases, soft tissue/body reorganization, stress management, entrainment, recovery, personal growth. and more. Unlike most therapy or training, it’s self-directed, highly flexible and offers a variety of ways of tailoring how you work with it to complement your goals.

PulsePlay is neither a medical therapy or a healing method, but it allows you the ability to tailor it more towards bodily recovery and restoration or authenitc expression. Because it is very much an "in-the-moment" type of process, it can be better defined as a self-care process that provides a more modern-day framework that is flexible and provides multiple choices for how you integrate and reorganizing your reflexes. Whether you are after correcting nervous system dysruptions and dysfuncitons, improving funcitonal behaviors, or just looking to be wildly creative and authentic with movement training, Pulseplay can be all of these things. Pulseplay teaches you how easy it is to listen and respond to your body's needs so you can deliver ultimately better self-care when you need it most.

How Learning to Connect with Autonomic Reflexes can Optimize Recovery, Neuroplasticity, and Progress Growth and Development:
Instead of telling your body what to do, Pulseplay helps your body show what it needs. Autonomic reflexes (specifically primitive reflexes) are what our body and brain used to learn how to move around the world, counteract gravity, and build our brain. For most that we successful with this process, those reflexes graduated into more mature reflexes to help us develop, called postural reflexes-many of which we still use today.

When we sustain early developmental trauma, experience ongoing chornic stress, or get sick or hurt (especially injuries to brain and central nervous system), reflexes may reserface and cause disruption. By accessing techniques that allow direct connection with these reflexes again, we are able to become mindful of them and use them for reintegration. For many this process can allow multiple choices on just how you do this and we help find the ones that work best for you.

How We Connect To The Pulse:
Pulseplay helps you connect to your body's reflexes right from the start. By gently interacting with these, we gain access to the autonomic nervous system behavior. Much like a conductor leading a symphony, the goal is to help the body slowly synchornize with these reflexes, become aware of them, and experience them. Through targeted techniques and supportive changes in the enviornment that help facilitate these reflexes, we will show you how you can interact direclty with them safely and comfortably to foster a more cohesive engagement with the nervous system.

We use techniques such as neurogenic tremoring, fascial unwinding, sound and vibration based-techniques, meditation, concious breath work, and other methods to help you connect to your Pulse. For those that already know how to do this, or that may use other techniques, we welcome those as well and are happy to jump deeper in with you here!
Borrowing from the Pulse
Once you are comfortable with connecting to your reflexes and have experienced the benefits of this practice, we then help guide you to borrow energy from them, similar to how the sound of vibrato borrows energy to create beautiful wavy-like sound our ears love to hear. We can also borrow this energy to rhymically oscillate our body and stimulate other areas and other reflexes. It is here we begin to now access availble energy for new functional movement and where we often begin to work deeper with oscillatory behaviors.

Science Behind The Pulse & Oscillatory Movements:
Accessing natural reflexes through movement is easy for most and comes natural. Wave oscillations and vibraitons through our tissues are generated by forces (from inside the body or from outside enviornment) and travel naturally through our body's tissue. Like any wave traveling through a medium, it is s aform of energy, and it can be sped up, slowed down, deflected, absorbed, reflected, or redirected. Movements such as walking, tremoring, or even breathing all demonstrate oscillatory patterning.

Interacting with the body's reflexes can help provide new sensory informaiton to the brain and restimulate your fascial system in a way that allows generation of whole body oscillatory behavior. These oscillations can also be slower and demonstrate more creep-like behavior that may be even undetectable to the human eye when generating movement. Some of these reflexive movements are occuring as a result of direct interaciton from receptors in the fascial tissue that include stretch reflexes, pressure receptors, temperature receptors, joint receptors, shearing forces.
Oscillatory behaviors vary amongst individuals: some are fast, others are slow, others irregular, some require the body to create specific shapes in order to activate. But the common feature shared amongst all is that these oscillations allow generation of movement derived from the autonomic nervous system that can be decoded by us and used creatively to redirect into other areas of the body that may benefit from movement and restimulation. The body's own self-generating energy system.

When we interact with our reflexive behaviors in this way under voluntary and concious awareness this often involves many different areas of the brain that also help auto-regulate and organize our body that include but not limited to motor and sensory coretex, cerebellum, basal ganglia, insula, default-mode-network, as well as many others including regions of auditory cortex.

Once you connect with this oscillating experience and get familirized with this behavior, you then are able to working direclty with that energy and many of natural principles that govern mechanical waves are availale here. We teach how to do this through "Play."

The "Play"
After familiarizing with the Pulse and how to create oscillations, Play is where you'll be introduced to a range of shapes and rich fascial-based tools that will be used to interact and harmonize with your Pulse more completely and more authenitcally. The "Play" component is like the melody in a song—it stands out, captures the attention of the Pulse, and provides a focal point to work from. . Finding the best way to "Play" with the Pulse can take some time, and we help to guide this process and share many of the tools and techniques we have learned over the years.

Borrowing Energy and Interacting with Gravity & Enviornment through Play
After familiarizing with how you can borrowin energy from your reflexes and how they can be utalized more whole body, it is here where you will start to manipulate shape of your body as well as the enviornment around you to target and redirect your Pulse. Here we switch gears and bring in more focus using mindfulness, listening, and intention.

We fpcus on two areas here: coregulation with the self and coregulation witih the enviornment. Even though both happen simultanously, we provide helpful language and exercises to develop tools and awarness to the different options your body has to interact with forces generated from the ground and from with the body.

Often here you will begin to experience more spontanously emerging sensory experiences from the body and nervous system as you start to become more accurate with the energy being borrowing being placed to where it needs to go. It is with these state shifts you will start to not only feel more organized, but your body will also demonstrate physical postural changes as a result.

Creating Meaning Through Play:
As you explore different techniques and new ways to interact with your reflexes from a more voluntary and mindful level space, you'll start to have fun and pick up more on the unique subtle sensory responses that come from a now more present and integrated body. This process helps promote self growth and discovery and helps you refine which sensory experiences, movements, and tools resonate best with your body. You may even begin to create your own tools that provide deeper connection and meaning to your Pulse (allowing harmonizing with your natural biological rhythms).

This approach is both highly exploratory and offers refinement as you build a personalized toolkit—techniques and strategies that will deepen your connection to your body and provide better autonomic balance in a creative, and more goal-supportive way. We are able to provide you with an A-Z library of techniques and tools here so do not worry of ever running out.

Mixing and Matching the Pulse and Play To Fit Your Needs
Even though we focus on "Pulse" and "Play" as different experiences, neuroscience has demonstrated these different states are very much together fluxuating back and forth to meet demands of the body and interactions of enviornment.
Working with both together equally or focusing on one more than the other (letting go or being mindful) can offer a unique and very different experience that involves accessing new creative avenues of the autonomic nervous system and can begin to unique shape your neuromyofascial web in ways that can supports greater creativity, self-expression, and brain-body organization. We are complex systems, and being able to mix your Pulse and Play together at different levels of intention can offer many new creative movement and sensory experiences that support optimizing health and training. This is at the heart of PulsePlay, getting here and using what you learned to get here in everyday life as you see fit. The ability to move between these two states (mindfulness and subconciousness) and combine them in ways that resemeble the more authentic you while also addressing your immediate needs, creates not only a more mature, efficient, and intellegent body, but it allows a space that offers more natural and truer sense of self regardless of condition and/or disability.

Why Children, Adults, and Professionals Love Play
Both children and adults are drawn to PulsePlay because of it's creative nature as well as clear differentiation it offers between working with voluntary and involuntary systems of our body. It provides space for shared language to exist amongst various ideas while at the same time honors the uniqueness and preferences of each persons body. It is NOT a method or discipline, but a newer way to interact the the body's natural and spontanous behaviors that make us human. The tools and techniques are not design to fix, but provide a way to explore, respond to, and regulate our experiences in a safe, and more play-based way. Most importantly, its fun to do.

Empowering Creativity and Self-Problem Solving
One of the hallmarks of PulsePlay is its ability to help individuals create newness in the moment. With basic tools and techniques combined in unique ways, the program supports real-time experiences of neuroplasticity, fascial remodeling, and allows your body to rebalance through play.

Harnessing Neuroplasticity, Embracing Complexity, & Creating New Sensory-motor experiences
PulsePlay embraces creating movements that may look different, strange, or atypical—but feel right. It encourages you to combine different sensory-rich experiences that are novel to our system. It demonstrates the parts and teaches you how to use them in unique and creative ways that are play-based but offer changes across the health spectrum in the way of brain and body health
Rhythm and Spontaniety Through Entraiment
It's ok to break the rules and follow your natural rhythms here—PulsePlay actually provides you with the different tools and guidance to do just this do just this. For many oscillations and rhythm offer shift in mental states, predictability to the nervous system, but also can assist in allowing deeper levels of entrainment to occur that connects us to more natural autonomic balancing states.

Decoding Interactions and Responses Between Enviornment and Body's Neuromyofascial Web
PulsePlay reveals how our movement responses and interaction with the environment are part of an ongoing conversation and one that not only helps us feel better, but one we can participate with and take part of to leverage. Unlike other techniques where you are the passive recipient only, PulsePlay lets you be both the player and audience at the same time. It helps individuals better understand their body's responses—and helps show how you can shift them to build greater levels of self-regulation and resilience.

Connecting to Emotions & Developing Resiliance following Trauma and Early Developmental Influences
Even in the most complex or unusual movement patterns, PulsePlay offers through movement and sensory experiences new pathways to reconnect the underlying influences and trauma when we are ready and in a step-by-step way that lets you tackle large jobs.

Waves Reveal What's Inside
Oscillations are vibraitons through material, and they can reveal information that others means of movement just cannot. Through their ability to reflect, refract, and transfer, you can get all types of various experiences of sensatoins that help direct us in ways to help the process along. Like rocks in a river.

Mental Health, Disability, and Illness
Because oscillations are naturally occuring, almost all individuals are able to engage with them, regardless of their condition, disability, or mental states. If a person is able to move a part of their body voluntarily, generally, this approach in learning is available. Understanding how to keep ones body safe and how to titate this process is something we overly emphasis throughout and at all levels of training. I

Modifications for Individauls with Movement Impairments or Neurological/Musculoskeletal Disease
For individuals who canno participate due to neurological or musculoskeltal disease, we are able to influence oscillatory systems passively and can teach individuals who are caretakers how to do this through them. One of the beauties is that we all share oscillatory capacities, we can rely on others systems to interact through oscillation.
